As a Principal Software Engineer (Systems Architect) at A1M, you will shape strategic and tactical direction for systems and teams, operating with high autonomy and providing thought leadership. This role involves working with a cross-functional scrum team to investigate systemic challenges in State Medicaid Enterprise System modernization, interviewing states and vendors, and recommending improvements. You will also serve as a technical solutions advisor, guiding on Medicaid policy analysis tools and process automation opportunities. Responsibilities include shaping technical strategy, driving architectural decisions, building and maintaining complex scalable systems, and mentoring engineers. The position requires 12+ years of relevant experience, advanced proficiency in modern software development, and expertise in building secure, compliant software. You will contribute to business development and discipline growth, partnering with the Practice Director on career lattice and hiring practices. This is a fully remote, full-time position with a salary range of $155,000 – $185,000.
