Happy Monday, Nexus friends! I don’t know about you all, but since this community started just 10 months ago, the energy of this ecosystem continues to grow. The caliber of people is remarkable, the willingness to help others is admirable to say the least and the ambition of the founders here never ceases to amaze me.
To the amazing members of this community that are contributing to the next chapter of Nexus, thank you. Your generosity is noticed and appreciated. We’re excited to be back in the swing of things. More below.
As always, if you know anyone great for this group, please make sure to send them this invite link.

Career/Bio overview
Hi everyone! I’m Julie, a Product Design Leader at Klaviyo, where I’ve been fortunate to grow alongside the company—from its early startup days to its IPO and beyond. While I don’t design daily like I did earlier in my career, I love being part of the bigger picture—solving complex problems, designing human-centered solutions, and navigating the “messy middle” of product development. Klaviyo challenges me every day, and that’s a big part of why I’m still here.
I started my career as a graphic designer and later transitioned into UI/UX design. After working with several startups & agencies, I eventually landed at Klaviyo, where I’ve had the chance to evolve and grow both personally and professionally.
Why Maine?
I grew up in Arkansas and spent 12 wonderful years in Boston, where I met my husband (also a designer!). When we started thinking about starting a family, we realized Boston’s housing market wasn’t for us. My husband grew up in Kennebunk, so moving to Maine felt like a natural choice. Having family nearby has been invaluable—now I truly understand the saying, “It takes a village.” We’re settled in a lovely home and love raising our kid here.
Away from the keyboard
When I’m not at the computer, you can find me spending time with my family, breaking a sweat on my Peloton or at Pilates, or diving into a good book.
Recently, I launched Women Connect, a subgroup of Nexus Maine. It’s designed for career-driven women who are navigating the challenges of balancing work and family life. My goal is to create a supportive space where we can connect and share experiences. If you’re interested, join us for our first coffee meetup on January 28th, 7:30–9:30 AM, at Cafe Luna in Scarborough. DM me for details or just to say hello—I’d love to connect!
Thank you for making this community special, everyone! See you on Slack.
