It is hard to believe that it is September already! On one hand, it will be easier to make reservations and nice to see the leaves turn. On the other, the days are getting shorter and it will start getting chilly.
We are excited to see a fuller event schedule for September with another Nexus happy hour, CleanTech event, Show HER the money and much, much more. We are also planning our next webinar with our very own Barrett Takesian, founder of Portland Community Squash. You can register here!
Lastly, as always, if you know anyone great for this group, please make sure to send them this invite link.
Baxter the moose is gearing up for leaf peeping season here in Maine. He is ready to get back to work and wants to build with his woodland friends. Style of Pixar.

My Story:
After a school career focused on mathematics and economics, I pursued a career trading North American electricity and natural gas at institutional banks and independent power producers. Through this career path I got a chance to learn quite a bit about impacts of renewable and traditional power sources on the grid as well as develop some data visualization skills. In 2021 I pivoted away from energy and joined a startup focused on issuing Home Equity Investments and finally made the move to Maine! Unfortunately, said startup ended early in 2024 (but it allowed me to get to Maine so in my opinion it was entirely worth it!) and now I'm sorting out what is next. I've been looking a lot at re-entering energy (potentially in a consulting capacity) and would welcome leads or ideas in this direction or any other ideas folks find interesting.
Why Maine:
Why not! All jokes aside, I feel very fortunate to call Maine home and love the access to the outdoors and its proximity to my parents and in-laws (in Brunswick, ME and Southern NH respectively). I know this is also well documented but I really appreciate the food scene here especially coming from a more metropolitan area. We've got two young boys at home and Maine has been a wonderful place to start our family together and I'm looking forward to showing them some of the activities Maine has to offer!
Outside of Work:
I enjoy most outside activities and grew up in Vermont mainly skiing, hiking, biking and golfing. As I've grown slightly older I have also become interested quite a bit more in cooking (large affinity for pastas here!) and home improvement projects (our house is from 1905 so there is evidently no end of opportunities in this direction!).
Connecting:
I'm thrilled to be a part of the Nexus community and would welcome conversation over electronic means, coffee, or other beverages to anyone who wants to catch up. No requirement around industry or job function - some of my most rewarding conversations have been with those from an entirely different path. Thanks to George and Jimmy for getting this community together!
Thank you for making this community special, everyone! See you on Slack.
